This is mostly a blog of everyday stories from my work as a primary school counselor. Some are funny, some are touching, but they all stand out as memorable moments. Sometimes I'll include photos, ideas that are working for me, and meaningful quotes. Enjoy!

Lesson Learned!
Our kindergarten lesson this week is on accepting no for an answer without whining and arguing with parents and teachers. We're learning to notice our strong feelings, calm ourselves down, and do the right thing even when we don't feel like it. Well, we learned today to just say, "Okay" in a calm voice when we don't get our way. After class, I was packing up the puppets when I overheard a little blonde girl wearing a sparkly silver hat ask her teacher if she was allowed to go to any center she wanted. Her teacher said, "No, go back to the one you were in when Miss Mimi came." Without blinking an eye, this sweet child calmly said, "Okay" and turned and looked me in the eye with a grin on her face. I squealed with glee and gave her a big old hug and thanked her for paying such good attention and immediately applying what we'd discussed. Educators (and parents, too) LOVE moments such as these! They keep us fired up about teaching our children!
