Foreign Alabama

As I talked with a beautiful curly-haired first grader yesterday, I got a chuckle that I had to restrain to keep from embarrassing him. Trying to describe his parents and why he thinks they act the way they do, he said, "My mom and dad are from foreign countries, so that's why they're different." Curious, I asked where they were from. In all seriousness, he said, "My mom's from Germany, and my dad's from Alabama."

I think I resemble that remark!!
