Last Days Are Bittersweet

Well, today was bittersweet. Of course I'm looking forward to summer vacation with its opportunities for fun and relaxation, but saying goodbye to all the second graders is difficult. And this year, a lot of our children are being rezoned to a new school, so that added another layer of sadness. At dismissal, almost all of the bus drivers honked their horns as they pulled out of our campus for the last time, and of course each honk delighted the kids, who hung out of the bus windows waving their little arms off. I know I'm a crybaby, but with every blast of a horn, I felt instantaneous tears pop up. At times like this, I'm so grateful to be a teacher!
