After standing up and bouncing to a guidance chant today, a kindergarten class settled back down on the carpet to listen to a story. A freckle-faced girl pulled at her pants and said, "My pants are about to fall off." Understanding about hip hugger jeans, I said, "Sometimes I feel that way, too. It'd really be embarrassing for your britches to fall off, wouldn't it?" Without a moment's forethought, a mischievous tow-headed boy blurted out, "Yeah, 'specially if they saw your peanut!" As the teacher and I widened our eyes and blushed furiously, I moved the lesson right along as quickly as possible!
This is mostly a blog of everyday stories from my work as a primary school counselor. Some are funny, some are touching, but they all stand out as memorable moments. Sometimes I'll include photos, ideas that are working for me, and meaningful quotes. Enjoy!
