Boring? Nah!

I was teaching kindergarten classes for the first time, and one day I told a new group that the first few minutes of class might be a little boring because I had to explain our rules. After our 35 minute lesson was over and I was packing up to leave, a wiggly but enthusiastic little fella said, "It wasn't boring!" Another little boy piped up, "No, it wasn't boring at all!" I said, "Well, I didn't mean to make you think the whole class would be boring.  I just thought that maybe going over the rules would be."  Shaking their heads in tandem, they both said, "No, that wasn't boring, either!"  What an easy audience when it's made up of sweet little kindergartners!  And I guess I need to stop putting expectations of boredom into their heads!
